When Mia goes off to school, she leaves her cat, Merlin, in charge of her pet mouse, Merlin. But as soon as Mia goes out, Merlin escapes from his cage and starts exploring the house.

When Mia returns home, she finds Merlin waiting for her in his cage. He's a little bit tired from his adventure, but he's also happy to be back home.

Mia and Merlin continue to be best friends, and Mia is grateful for the little mouse that has brought so much joy into her life.
