Tony Aston, born in 1953 in Redditch, Worcestershire, spent his formative years in the town until he reached the age of sixteen. In his memoir, Tony delves into his recollections of everyday life during a pivotal period when Redditch, like countless other towns and cities, was embarking on a journey of recovery and reinvention following the aftermath of World War II.

Tony vividly recalls the demolition of the old town and the construction of the new, as well as his personal memories of cherished moments such as Christmas, the taste of food and drink, the severe freeze of 1962/63, incidents and accidents, remarkable individuals who have shaped his life, the impact of radio and television, and how these experiences intertwined with significant national and international events.

With a background as a former Scotland Yard detective and counter-espionage specialist within the UK Defence Industry, Tony has achieved a remarkable feat in his debut book by crafting a narrative that is both humorous and poignant, while also evoking readers' own memories.
