When a man receives three separate notices by three different women, all published in the local newspaper, bearing his same name, and he happens to be my namesake as well, I believe it is my duty to offer him some assistance.

The sequence of death notices for Robert Raynald appears in the local newspaper: one from his mother, another from his estranged wife, and finally, one from his daughter. This unusual method catches the attention of Superintendent Mallett and his friend, Dr. Fitzbrown. The inquest concluded that Raynald committed suicide while temporarily insane, but his daughter, Geraldine, remains skeptical and gathers enough evidence to pique the interest of Mallett's investigator.

Raynald's story unfolds through flashbacks, as Mallett and Fitzbrown piece together his life through the accounts of those who knew him best. "Requiem for Robert" seamlessly blends the excitement of a detective story with a poignant exploration of character.
