Amplifying the Voices of Survivors and Responders to Sexual Violence during the Rise of Digital Feminist Movements

This book employs an intersectional approach to highlight the experiences of individuals who have been and continue to be at the forefront of resisting and responding to sexual violence during the emergence of digital feminist movements, including #NoMore, #TimesUp, and most notably #MeToo.

In the current socio-political landscape, there has been a notable increase in the visibility of movements such as #NoMore, #TimesUp, and most notably #MeToo. Moreover, the public exposure of accused perpetrators who have been elected to the highest offices in the United States, such as Brett Kavanaugh's appointment to the Supreme Court and Donald Trump's presidency, has further underscored the significance of this political climate. This book explores the impact of this landscape on survivors and therapists alike.

The first of the two volumes comprises 10 chapters that critically examine the silencing of marginalized survivors within the current movements and provide recommendations for centering their experiences through an intersectional lens. These chapters specifically address the experiences of women of color, trans, and queer survivors, recognizing their unique challenges and advocating for their voices to be heard and acknowledged.

The second volume of the book continues to expand on the themes explored in the first volume, covering a wide range of perspectives that shed light on the solidarity forged among survivors, regardless of their identity and experiences, within the current socio-political climate. The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of Women & Therapy, highlighting the importance of therapeutic interventions and support systems for survivors.
