Be careful what you wish for!

Rita had always dreamed of having a rabbit as a pet. She had imagined cuddling with a soft, fluffy creature and spending endless hours playing with it. However, her reality was far different from her expectations. Spike, her pet bearded dragon, was not a rabbit at all. He was scaly, scary, scratchy, scrabbly, scrawny, speckled, and spiky. Rita was disappointed and couldn't understand why she had ever wanted a pet like Spike.

Despite her initial reluctance, Rita tried to make the best of her situation. She bought toys and treats for Spike and tried to interact with him as much as possible. But every time she tried to pet him or play with him, he would run away or hiss at her. Rita was frustrated and felt like she had made a mistake by getting a pet like Spike.

One day, Rita's best friend came to visit with her rabbit. The rabbit was fluffy, cute, and playful. Rita couldn't help but envy her friend's pet. She wished that she had a rabbit like her friend instead of Spike.

To her surprise, Spike saved the day. He chased away a group of neighborhood kids who were trying to harm Rita's friend's rabbit. Rita was amazed at Spike's bravery and realized that he wasn't so bad after all. She started to appreciate him for his unique qualities and realized that he was just as much a part of her family as the rabbit was.

In the end, Rita learned an important lesson about being careful what you wish for. She had always wanted a rabbit, but she had never considered the challenges that come with owning a pet like Spike. However, by learning to appreciate Spike for who he was, Rita had found a new friend and a new sense of belonging in her family.
