The crew of the Rosebud is a fascinating and eclectic group of individuals, each with their unique characteristics and roles on the ship. Currently, and by force of law, the crew consists of a balloon, a gothic with a swagger stick, a science aristocrat possibly, a ball of hands, and a swarm of insects. However, when five sentient digital beings, who have been condemned for over three hundred years to crew the small survey ship by the all-powerful Company, encounter a mysterious black sphere, their course of action is clear: obtain the object, inform the Company, and earn lots of praise.

However, things take a unexpected turn when the ship malfunctions, leaving the crew with no choice but to approach the sphere and survey it themselves. They have no idea that this object, and the transcendent truth hidden within, will change the fate of all existence, the Company, and themselves.

The balloon, known for its whimsical and adventurous spirit, is the first to encounter the sphere. It is drawn to its mysterious presence and decides to investigate. As it approaches the sphere, it notices that it is pulsing with energy and emits a faint hum. The balloon cautiously approaches the sphere and touches it, feeling a strange sensation wash over it.

The gothic, with his dark and mysterious demeanor, is the next to encounter the sphere. He is immediately drawn to its power and begins to study it closely. He notices that the sphere is made up of a strange material that seems to absorb and manipulate light. He also notices that the sphere has a strange effect on the surrounding environment, causing plants and animals to grow and thrive in ways that they have never experienced before.

The science aristocrat, with his refined and intellectual demeanor, is the third to encounter the sphere. He is immediately intrigued by its properties and begins to conduct experiments on it. He notices that the sphere has the ability to manipulate time and space, and can create and destroy matter and energy on a whim. He also notices that the sphere has a strange effect on the human body, causing changes in DNA and cellular structure.

The ball of hands, with its mysterious and unpredictable nature, is the fourth to encounter the sphere. It is drawn to its power and begins to play with it, manipulating it in ways that no one has ever seen before. It creates strange shapes and forms, and can even teleport objects from one place to another.

The swarm of insects, with their collective intelligence and adaptability, is the fifth to encounter the sphere. They are immediately drawn to its energy and begin to feed on it. As they consume the sphere, they gain a newfound sense of power and purpose, and begin to work together in ways that no one has ever seen before.

As the crew continues to study the sphere, they begin to realize that it holds the key to unlocking the secrets of the universe. They realize that the sphere is a powerful tool that can be used for good or evil, and that the fate of all existence rests in their hands. They also realize that the Company, who has been controlling the crew for centuries, is not as powerful as they thought and that there are forces at work that are beyond their control.
