Sadie's past relationships have left her with a deep fear of love. She has been hurt and betrayed, and it's hard for her to trust anyone. When she meets Joao, she is drawn to him because he is different from the men she has dated before. He is kind, caring, and respectful of her. But as their relationship progresses, Sadie starts to realize that Joao has a dark past. He has been hurt by someone in the past, and it has left him with scars. Sadie tries to help him heal, but she soon realizes that she is getting too involved in his life. She starts to feel like she is taking on too much responsibility, and she begins to distance herself from Joao. But it's too late. Joao has fallen in love with Sadie, and he won't let her go.
