In this gripping tale, the esteemed spymaster Stenworld finds himself at a pivotal moment as he stands up against the invading Wasp armies in his beloved home city of Collegium. As the war looms, Stenwold must navigate a treacherous web of alliances and betrayals, discerning between those who truly stand with him and those who seek to exploit his power.

Amidst the chaos, Tisamon, the Weaponsmaster, emerges with a bold plan. He proposes to face the Wasp Emperor himself, armed with a blade, in a desperate bid to end the war once and for all. However, his decision comes with a heavy cost, as he would be abandoning both his friends and family in pursuit of his noble mission. Is Tisamon truly driven by honor, or is there a darker force manipulating his actions?

As the tension mounts, Uctebri, the enigmatic Wasp-kinden Emperor, holds the key to ultimate power. He believes that by performing a dark ritual with the Shadow Box in his possession, he can achieve immortality and rule the Empire for eternity. However, Uctebri has his own sinister plans in store, which could spell doom for both the Emperor and the entire Empire.

Salute the Dark is a masterfully crafted novel that delves into the depths of loyalty, sacrifice, and the pursuit of power. It continues to expand the intricate world of Shadows of the Apt, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next installment, The Scarab Path, to unravel the thrilling conclusion of this epic saga.
