As Alex and Ruby step through the mirror, they find themselves in the cold winter of 1947. Life at Applecott House is challenging, especially with food scarce after the Second World War. But their adventure takes a thrilling turn when they discover they must solve the mystery of a missing family heirloom to return home.

With determination, they embark on a perilous treasure hunt across the snow and treacherous ice. Along the way, they encounter historical figures and experience the hardships of that era. Will they make it back to the present day or be stuck in 1947 forever?

A Chase in Time is filled with action, humor, and exciting black-and-white illustrations that bring history to life in a captivating way. It's also a clever vehicle for introducing the differences between then and now in an accessible manner, with a fast-paced plot and a lovely spooky ending.
