The book "The Evacuation of Singapore to the Prison Camps of Sumatra" describes the events leading up to, during, and after the Fall of Singapore, as well as how former prisoners are remembered on Bangka Island today. It is the result of extensive historical research, interviews with camp survivors, and personal experiences discovering and locating former Japanese civilian prison camp sites. Judith's goal is to provide an accurate account of the fate of evacuees from Singapore who were bombed and killed in the South China Sea or imprisoned in harsh Japanese civilian prison camps. The Peace Museum was established in 2015 by prisoners' families, and annual memorial services are held on February 16, attended by families and the Australian, New Zealand, and British Embassies.

The Evacuation of Singapore to the Prison Camps of Sumatra is a comprehensive account of the events leading up to, during, and after the Fall of Singapore, as well as the ways in which former prisoners are remembered on Bangka Island today. This remarkable work is the result of extensive historical research, extensive interviews with camp survivors, and personal experiences in discovering and locating the former Japanese civilian prison camp sites of Bangka Island and Southern Sumatra.

Judith's primary objective has been to compile an accurate and detailed account of the fate of evacuees from Singapore who were either bombed and killed in the South China Sea and Bangka Strait or imprisoned in harsh Japanese civilian prison camps. Many families had been unaware of the circumstances surrounding their relatives' deaths or imprisonment until contacting the author through the Muntok Peace Museum website, http://muntokpeacemuseum.org. Established in 2015 by prisoners' families, the Peace Museum serves as a vital platform for families to learn about the fate of their loved ones and pay tribute to their memory.

In addition to her meticulous research, Judith has vividly described her numerous visits to Bangka Island and Sumatra, providing a guide for others to follow in her footsteps and pay their respects to the relatives who were imprisoned and died during World War II. Annual Memorial Services are held on February 16, attended by families, as well as the Australian, New Zealand, and British Embassies. These services serve as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by those who endured the hardships of captivity and serve as a testament to the enduring legacy of their memory.

The Evacuation of Singapore to the Prison Camps of Sumatra is a testament to the resilience and determination of the human spirit, and serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of remembering and honoring the sacrifices made by those who served during times of war.
