The guitarist Jose Tomas (1934-2001), a pupil of Andres Segovia, was himself a renowned teacher and mentor to numerous classical guitarists worldwide, including soloists such as David Russell, Ignacio Rodes, amongst many others. He was also known for faithfulness to the original and intuitive fingerings in his arrangements and transcriptions.
