- More about The Secret of Resilience: Healing Personal and Planetary Trauma through Morphogenesis
Energy medicine, such as Jin Shin, can help restore resilience at its developmental source by using non-invasive touch on sites of the body that are similar to acupuncture points. This can help amplify neuroresilience, enhance creativity, restore motivation, and heal the fragmentation and disconnection associated with trauma and shock.

When neuroscientist Stephanie Mines delved into the hands-on healing art of Jin Shin, she embarked on a profound journey to unravel the mysteries of trauma and discover the key to resilience. As a survivor of early childhood abuse, a social justice activist, and a series of dysfunctional and abusive relationships, Mines was deeply intrigued by the remarkable ability of the human nervous system to find resilience in the face of chronic stress and traumatic life events. During her pursuit of a doctorate in neuropsychology, Mines met Mary Iino Burmeister, the master of Jin Shin, through Pamela Markarian Smith, the founder of the Jin Shin Institute. Jin Shin is a non-invasive touch technique that utilizes the fingertips to apply pressure to specific body sites, resembling acupuncture points.
After experiencing the transformative power of Jin Shin in resolving her own trauma and awakening her innate resilience, Mines embarked on a mission to integrate it into her clinical research. She discovered that the Jin Shin sites correspond to the Chinese Extraordinary Meridians or Rivers of Splendor, which develop prenatally. Through her investigation of early neurodevelopmental processes, Mines established a correlation between the Jin Shin sites and specific embryological events. She found that gentle touch on these sites, combined with trauma resolution, amplifies neuroresilience, enhances creativity, restores motivation, and heals the fragmentation and disconnection associated with trauma and shock.
In sharing her personal journey as a wounded healer, Mines unveils not only the secrets of resilience for individual healing but also how embodied resilience can contribute to the healing of our wounded planet. Through her work, Mines hopes to empower individuals to unlock their own resilience and foster a collective sense of resilience to address the challenges we face as a society.
