Six Lies Killed Huw Jones. On New Year's Eve 2011, Huw Jones disappeared from his bedroom while his father and five friends were downstairs. His body was later discovered on the nearby cliffs at St Non's. That night, all six friends lied in their statements to the police. Over a decade later, Huw's mother, Heledd, is found dead. Mallory Dawson must uncover the lies lurking in the tight-knit community of St Davids. But someone has kept their secrets for years, and they would kill to protect them.
Mallory Dawson is a private investigator who has been hired by Heledd's family to find out what happened to their daughter. She arrives in St Davids, a small coastal town in West Wales, and begins to investigate. She meets Huw's father, who is still grieving the loss of his son. He tells her that Huw had been troubled and had been seeing a therapist, but he had stopped going a few months before his disappearance. Mallory also meets Huw's five friends, who are all still living in the town. They all give her different accounts of what happened the night Huw disappeared, and they all deny any involvement in his death.
As Mallory continues to investigate, she begins to uncover some strange things about the town. She discovers that there is a secret society that has been operating in St Davids for years, and that they have been involved in a number of illegal activities. She also learns that Huw's therapist had been murdered, and that his files had been stolen.
Mallory becomes increasingly convinced that the six friends are involved in Huw's death. She starts to piece together the lies that they told the police, and she begins to suspect that they are all hiding something. She starts to investigate their pasts, and she discovers that they all have something to hide.
One of the friends, Jack, is a drug dealer who has been involved in a number of illegal activities. Another friend, Sarah, is a former prostitute who has been involved in a number of scandals. Another friend, Tom, is a former police officer who has been involved in a number of corruption scandals. Another friend, Emily, is a former teacher who has been involved in a number of sexual abuse scandals. Another friend, Mark, is a former soldier who has been involved in a number of war crimes.
As Mallory continues to investigate, she becomes more and more dangerous. She is being followed by a group of men who are trying to kill her, and she is constantly in danger. She is determined to uncover the truth, no matter what the cost.
In the end, Mallory discovers the truth about Huw's death. The six friends were involved in a conspiracy to kill him, and they were all willing to do whatever it took to protect their secrets. They lied to the police, they stole Huw's therapist's files, and they murdered him.
Mallory is able to bring the six friends to justice, and they are all sentenced to long prison terms. The town of St Davids is left in ruins, and the families of the victims are left to grieve.
The Sixth Lie is an absolutely unputdownable Welsh crime novel perfect for fans of Clare Mackintosh and Robert Gold. It is a tense, suspenseful, and gripping story that will keep you guessing until the very end. The characters are well-drawn and the plot is well-executed, leaving you with a sense of complete satisfaction and a burning desire to read more about Mallory Dawson. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery.
