Kiki Tokatly shares her very personal experience with Anorexia Nervosa, highlighting the daily struggles and realities of living with this illness. She explores how this affected both her own life but also the lives of her loved ones, who were all hugely caught up in her struggle.

Anorexia is a complex, mental illness that can affect anyone and envelops all aspects of the sufferer’s life. Written through the humorously ironic structure of a full meal (Starter, Main Course, Dessert, and finally Tips) Kiki shares the contributing factors and lead-up to her struggles, the darkest of moments in hospital and in-patient units, to the reclaiming of her life after discharge and the realisation of just how ‘sweet’ and ‘rich’ life can be.

The book ends with an array of advice to the various people who will be caught up in this disease, such as friends, family, healthcare professionals, and partners. This for them to gain an inside perspective and prompt them to best support the sufferer through it.
