Transitory is a collection of elegies that memorialize 46 transgender and gender-nonconforming people murdered in the US and Puerto Rico in 2020. The poems are epistolary and explore gender identities and sexualities from a Queer elder, navigating the desire to be at home in our bodies, to be loved and desired without danger, and to live free, healthy, and welcome in the world.

Based on protest and unity, Transitory is a collection of elegies honoring 46 transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals who were killed in the United States and Puerto Rico in 2020. These commemorative poems, written in an epistolary style, are "gleaned sketches" that attempt to reconstruct lives and deaths based on the limited information available on the internet. Interwoven with the elegies are personal reflections on gender identities and sexualities from a Queer elder who has lived through the post-Stonewall years of sexual liberation, the second wave of feminism, and the recent surge in awareness about gender and sexualities, which has been met with almost equal levels of anti-trans and anti-Queer violence. Through the lens of whiteness and privilege accumulated over a lifetime, these poems explore the desire to feel at home in our bodies, to be loved and desired without fear, and ultimately to live free, healthy, and welcome in the world we inhabit.
