Vital Flows delves into the concept of the Interpsychic, which encompasses the unconscious and preconscious inter- and intra-human exchanges. It emphasizes the significance of this concept for understanding psychoanalytic theory and practice.

Drawing on extensive clinical material, Bolognini explores how interactions between the self and the ego can be influenced by pre-conscious associations, potentially hindering the development of our self-concept and social interactions. By combining his international theoretical and clinical expertise, Bolognini offers valuable insights into the unconscious and empowers patients to access and navigate these preconscious channels in a transformative way.

Recognizing that the psychic life comprises internal and external interactions akin to those in bodily exchange, this text provides an insightful account of how internal life shapes our development from childhood onward. As an instructive and topical text that draws meaningfully from Italian, British, and North-American psychoanalysis, Vital Flows holds immense value for psychoanalysts and psychotherapists alike, as they strive to comprehend and apply the inter-psychic within their own practices.
