After an unexpected redundancy, Ruby's world is turned upside down. She begins to question her priorities and seeks inspiration to find her ideal job. Encountering a quote from Kahlil Gibran about loving one's work, Ruby embarks on a journey of self-discovery.

Over the course of a year, Ruby experiences a diverse range of employment opportunities. She takes on the role of a nanny in the picturesque South of France, navigates the challenges of working in a Harley Street Clinic, serves customers in a bustling Soho cafe, and even has the chance to meet retired actors who have graced the silver screen in the comfort of a home for retired actors.

While love no longer holds the top spot on Ruby's list of priorities, relationships unexpectedly blossom along the way. She finds herself engaging in romantic encounters with various individuals, leading to some unexpected endings and the issuance of her own P45s.

As Ruby continues to navigate her professional and personal journey, she wonders if any of the jobs or men she encounters will bring her closer to fulfilling her dreams. Will she find herself back where she started, or will she emerge stronger and more determined than ever before? The answer to this question lies in the twists and turns of Ruby's journey, as she learns to embrace new opportunities and love herself unconditionally.
