One day, when heavy rains forced them to play inside, Yakari and Rainbow were startled by a strange sound. To their amazement, it was followed by their whole tipi suddenly taking off and flying straight north, with them inside! After several hours of a not entirely pleasant journey, they were greeted on landing by Rainbow's spirit guide, Nanabozho, the Great Rabbit, who wanted them to meet the inhabitants of the great north. Among those was a mysterious white bird, who turned out to be the guardian of the Arctic Circle. The bird was kind and gentle, and it showed them around the circle, teaching them about the different animals and plants that lived there.

As they were leaving, the bird gave them a special gift - a crystal that would protect them from any harm that might come their way. Yakari and Rainbow were grateful for the gift and promised to always remember the kindness of the white bird.

From that day on, Yakari and Rainbow were inseparable friends. They traveled together to many different places, and they always looked out for each other. And whenever they saw a white bird, they knew that it was the guardian of the Arctic Circle, watching over them and protecting them from any harm that might come their way.
